How to add search engine to Google Chrome
If you want to access calcul.io i a quickect way possible, the best solution is to add it as a search engine to your Google Chrome. That way you'll be able to access it from the address bar (also called Omnibox)
It's really easy and here are the steps:
Open Google Chrome
Go to Settings
- Click on the three dots icon in the top right corner
- Click on "Settings"
Find Search Engine configurations
- In the left menu, find and open "Search engine"
- Click on "Manage search engines and site search"
Edit Site Search
- Find the section called "Site search"
- Click on "Add" button next to it
Add custom site seach
You'll see a form asking you for a few informations
Search Engine Name
You can give it whatever name you like but calcul.io is probably the best choice here.
Shortcut
Choose a shortcut that will tell Chrome that you want to do go to calcul.io and not to google something.
c
is a good choice
Query URL
Here you need to input following string:
https://calcul.io/c/%s
Click "Add" to confirm and you're all set!
How to use custom site seach
- Click into your address/search bar.
- Instead of an url or a search query write following:
c 1+1
- Press Enter
And that's it! Whenever you start your search with
c
(or whatever shortcut you've chosen) followed by your math problem, you'll be taken directly to calcul.io!
If you want to split your equations over multiple lines, you can! Simply write
~
when you want a new line and let calcul.io process it.
